IT was not a bad do for the humble receptionist from The Office.

With St Paul’s Cathedral as the venue and red Routemaster buses and black taxis ferrying the guests, actress Lucy Davis, who played Dawn in the hit comedy series, got married in style to Welsh actor Owain Yeoman yesterday.

It was a world away from the drab offices of Slough for Davis and her former co-stars.

Three hundred guests attended the ceremony, including The Office co-writer Stephen Merchant and actors Mackenzie Crook, who played Gareth, and Martin Freeman who played Dawn’s lovelorn admirer Tim.

However, Ricky Gervais, star and co-writer of the series, did not attend.

Other guests included actors Simon Pegg, who starred alongside Davis in hit zombie film Shaun Of The Dead, Robert Powell and Mark Gatiss.

Davis, 33, the daughter of millionaire comedian Jasper Carrott, left nothing to chance and got to the church with time to spare.

Indeed, she had 20 minutes to get her dress – a Monique Lhuillier-designed, white floor-length gown encrusted with diamonds – just right for her grand entry.

Prior to the ceremony, Carrott, 61, said: “I’m very proud. A lot of time and a lot of effort has gone into it. And I hope we’ll have a great time.”

St Paul’s, where the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer married in 1981, is not usually available for non-royal weddings.

But the actress was allowed to marry at the cathedral because her father was made an OBE in the New Year’s Honours in 2002.

Davis, who also voiced the role of Hayley Jordan in The Archers, got engaged to Yeoman, 32, in June this year. The pair have spent time together in Hollywood.

Following the ceremony, Davis looked ecstatic and not a little emotional as she posed for photographs on the steps of the cathedral.

She shared a long kiss with her new husband – who starred alongside Brad Pitt in Troy – before the pair took a black cab to their wedding reception, believed at Floridita – a Cuban-inspired venue in central London.

Carrott, who wore his OBE medal on his jacket, said: “It was amazing and very, very emotional. Lucy looked stunning – and he’s not bad either.”
